Wanaka is a snowy wonderland from June till early October. Summertime is from December till March. The temperature goes upto 25 degrees max. It starts getting cooler from March and continues till May, serving Wanaka with Autumn season which is also really beautiful. These months attract visitors due to skiing, snowboarding and glacier landing activities.

Is there that much to do in Wanaka. I wouldn't say I'm overly outdoorsy but I like nice scenery and walks as much as the next person. Would my time be better spent somewhere else in that area?

Wanaka is a lovely place but you're right - theres not too much to do there. Do check out Puzzle World though, its pretty cool.
